Petit Lemans must be in the championship in America. Watkins Glen has not been a player for years. The Petit has grown in stature, as well as attendance, to be one of the great endurance races in the world. All the Peugeot pilots LOVE Road Atlanta, and list as their top 1 -2 tracks in the world…there words, not mine.
]]>A World Endurance championship should be for Road based Production cats like GT1/2 , GT3/4 and Group N Sedans (old Group A rules). Even a EV or Hybrid class.
The series needs to visit all continents and should be raced on classic tracks.
Europe, Spa, Silverstone, Nuburgring
Americas – Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen
Australiasia – Bathurst, Phillip Island
Asia – Fuji, Macau,
South America – Brazil?
Races should be over 6,9,12 or 24 hours and could include a field made up of 2/3 International teams of the field and 1/3 locals. Fields could be as many as 55 cars.
I do agree that manufactures should be rewarded, but teams make races. GT3 appeals to most. To appeal to Australians the series needs to include rules that include Holden Commodores and Ford Falcons.
]]>I disagree completely with endurance racing awarding drivers titles. It’s like Messi winning the UEFA Champions League and not Villa because one played more matches than the other. Endurance racing is a team sport, so there should only have titles for manufacturers (P1 and GT) and teams (all classes except P1 works teams).
