My fascination with motorsport began at age 16 with the release of John Frankenheimer’s “Grand Prix”. I got such a visceral thrill out of just watching that! First race was 1968 Indy 500 and Graham Hill was my hero (still is even in death). I quickly learned to love every type of racing I saw. I lived for Rob Walker’s columns in Road & Track. Watkins Glen was my favorite venue where I could mix with drivers and teams in the Kendall Tech Center; no secrets in that barn. Disability robbed me of attending races at 40 but thank heavens for ever-improving TV and internet coverage. Back to vicarious thrills.
