Good point about the Porsches, GTE PRO was not the contest it should have been, mistakes made or something more sinister? I don’t suppose we will find out anytime soon.

Your friend Nigel above hit on my two gripes as well, because the SC period pretty much eroded what little advantage the Porsche RSRs had left with their superior grip in the wet after the ACO had removed all chance of them posing a threat through the BoP index. Once the SC came in the track was dry and the Porsches were onto a hiding to nothing. As a result they hammered their cars and even led the class at one point, but this led to a broken suspension on the one car and an engine fire in the other. Bring back the Group C rules!!

a very good point that I missed concerning the race start under the Safety Car, I believe there was a lot of politics going on from the front runners and Race Control depending on which tyres they were running……………can’t substantiate that story that was whispered around the Paddock, but it was a joke to run these cars as if they were F1 or NASCAR.

Last week at Spa was a bit of a contrast to the magic carpet ride enjoyed by Ford, SRO publicly flogging the Mercedes-AMG squads for trying it on. Stéphane has a long memory and will not tolerate piss-taking by the competitors………….even the biggest fish.

I thought the race was fantastic despite the efforts of the ACO and their really stupid BoP knackering of anything that wasn’t a Ford or Ferrari. The GTLM Class was a snore fest as everyone knew the result before the race began and to see the Ford’s breeze past everything else on the straights must have been particularly disheartening for the other drivers.
The other classes were terrific, my one (other) gripe was seeing the race start behind the safety car and then run for almost the whole of the first hour like that…..I mean it’s not NASCAR these cars are designed to race in the wet.
