There is one Siddeley Special that a friend of mine has been trying to trace for years as it was used by the then Governor General of Canada, Lord Tweedsmuir. Even if the car that you have found is not this particular one it would still be of interest to many people in the Armstrong Siddeley Owners Club in the UK.
Although most of the specials were given impressive saloon bodies there were some that had convertible coachwork and some were entered into rallies of the period including a team of three in the 1937 Alpine Trial. They were not the most manouverable of cars but they were strong, reliable and, for their period, fast.

It was a monster pre-select gears, a drivers side window that shot up and down at alarming speed via a lever, fold-away foot rests at the back, a small skylite in the roof that opened and i emembered the glass turning a strnge shade of yellow in latter years, must have had some kind of protective film between the layers of glass. Think it did about eight miles to the gallon. it looked very much like the picture of the 1932 model but I remember it as looking larger. I sent the radiator cap I managed to save to the Armstrong Siddley club in the uK before I left to live in Thailand – Best wishes, rick
