This is a brilliant story. I had the wonderful opportunity to work for TWR during the Le Mans years as part of the signalling team, mainly based down at the Golf Club on the exit of Mulsanne Corner. I had the privilege of holding out the board for the No 2 in 1988 and No 3 in 1990 and through the kindness of Tony Dowe and others back at Kidlington did the same job at Daytona in 1992. At its height we took out 24 people to signal to Jaguars and the Mazda team and collectively we have many stories, some of which should remain unpublished, that relate to those wonderful weeks spent at Le Mans every June.

JB, without a doubt Banditti of the Plains was far and away the best piece run on SCP. It was just as good a read today, but many thanks for adding more of your evocative photos. Tony Dowe is quite the character; I’ll always be grateful to Kerry Morse for inviting me to spend time with him and for writing down the small fraction of Tony’s tales cleared for publication.
